Interpersonal Skills

Interpersonal skills are very important to a company, as it is these skills that allow for employees to interact and relate to co-workers.   It is also these skills that can create inspiration, resolve conflict, and essentially make a day at work run smoothly.

Tasks and Competencies:

IS 2      Demonstrate listening and thinking skills

IS 3      Demonstrate respect for diversity

IS 4      Demonstrate customer service skills

IS 5      Collaborate with team members

IS 6      Demonstrate and practice proper phone and email etiquette

Personal Qualities and Attributes

Personal qualities are the characteristics, attributes or personality traits of an individual.  Possessing positive qualities will result in a more valuable employee.

Aspects of Business and Industry

Aspects of Business and Industry showcases knowledge of the business environment - a business can be affected by numerous outside factors. Developments in politics, the economy, technology, society and the environment could all affect a business' development. A valuable employee needs to keep informed.

Tasks and Competencies

ABI 1   Examine aspects of planning within an industry/organization

ABI 2   Examine aspects of management within an industry/organization

ABI 3   Examine aspects of financial responsibility within an industry/organization

ABI 4   Examine technical and production skills required of workers within an industry/organization

ABI 5   Examine principles of technology that underlie an industry/organization

ABI 6   Review a company’s mission statement to understand vision

ABI 7   Examine community issues related to an industry/organization

ABI 8   Examine health, safety, and environmental issues related to an industry/organization

Career and Work-based Learning

Through Career and Work Based Learning, students will receive an educational approach or instructional methodology that uses the workplace or real work experience to provide them with the knowledge and skills that will help them connect school experiences to real-life and future career opportunities.  Students must complete the preliminary work-based learning badges listed above prior to completing their Career and Work-based Learning Badge.

WBL 1 - Identify the types of work-based learning (WBL) opportunities 

WBL 2 - Reflect on lessons learned during the WBL experience 

WBL 3 - Explore career opportunities related to the WBL experience 

WBL 4 - Participate in a work-based learning experience, when appropriate

WBL 5 - Complete appropriate documentation and activities necessary to prepare
for a successful WBL experience or career

E-Portfolio

An E-Portfolio is a collection of a student’s accomplishments and work showcased in a digital format.  E-portfolios provide a valuable resource for a student to showcase achievement over time while gaining insights about themselves that can lead to improvement and growth.
