New Visions Career Academy
OUR MISSION
The mission of the Canastota New Visions Career Academy is to bring business and education together in an effort to provide valuable hands-on learning experiences as well as critical employability skills to the students of the Canastota Central School District.
The Canastota New Visions Career Academy Program provides high school juniors and seniors with a way to learn about a career area of interest while providing a smooth transition from high school to post-secondary education or the workforce. By participating in this program, students are given the opportunity to confirm their interest in a possible career area. For the first half of the year, students participate in micro-credentialing - work-based learning programs to enhance their skills and prepare them for employment. During the second half of the year, students will participate in an internship experience.
Partnerships between the Canastota Central School District and local businesses will provide internship opportunities for students enrolled in this program. The work-based learning experiences are held at business/industry sites where learning occurs in a contextualized manner. Students work and learn side by side with business professionals.
